TENBY CAMERA CLUB NEWS
Returning after an enjoyable festive break with a large audience, the 2nd Open Competition was judged. Taking on the task was Swansea based Mike Clatworthy who is a member of 3 West Glamorgan camera clubs as well as being a WPF qualified judge.
There was a wide range of subject matter in both sections including our feathered friends, flowers, people, sport and landscapes. Mike commented that the standard of the wildlife photography was particularly good.
In the print section Mike had 17 entries to look at . He gave constructive comments how a photo could be enhanced . With 5 entries scoring 19 or 20 the final decision was in 1st place with 20 points “ The Next Wave” by Gary Mayhew. A super sea and surfer scape which would grace any home. In 2nd place with “Woodpecker eating” was Charlie Kidd scoring 20 points . Charlie Kidd also attained 3rd place with “ Portrait of a Sparrowhawk” scoring 20 .
In the DPI section there were 16 entries, again with 5 entries scoring 19 or 20. In top spot was Dave Bolton with “Puffin Takeoff’ . Top mark of 20 was given for this interesting angled shot of a puffin skimming the sea. In 2nd place was Melanie Felton, getting 20 points, for “Misty Tenby” . A first time top score for Melanie . “Flying High” by Jan Sullivan scored 19 and was given the 3rd spot . Mike gave Neil Thomas’s “Puffin Landing” a highly commended.
