ROB ASHCROFT
TENBY CAMERA CLUB NEWS
On Thursday 9th November Robert Ashcroft from Carmarthen introduced us to “ Creating Macro & Close up Images” .
Rob’s mantra is “The world is getting smaller - and all you need is a macro lens.”His photography style is about imagination and ideas, about making the ordinary in life seem extraordinary.
Rob’s presentation gave us advice on how to approach this specialised field of photography. Illustrated with interesting photographs , techniques about the use of flash , camera settings, use of natural light were discussed. Focus Stacking was covered in detail with some super images to show how effective the technique is . There was advice on equipment that is necessary to achieve that special shot, such as lenses, flash units, diffusers & reflectors .
The subject matter for macro & close up can vary immensely from everyday objects ,like cutlery, flowers, insects and water droplets. The technique can be practised all year round without having to wait for a sunny & dry day.
On Thursday 16th November, photographer Roy Carr will present his “40/40” talk which comprises 40 colour and 40 mono prints, largely landscapes but also images from a project “ Their lives on sheep farming in South Wales” Quality work to be seen , come along and see for yourselves . Details on the Tenby Camera Club website & on facebook.
Roy will present his "40/40" talk which comprises of 40 colour prints and 40 mono prints, largely on a landscape theme but with plenty of surprises thrown in, including images photographs from my project A Year In Their Lives on sheep farming in south Wales.
