GARETH MARTIN
TENBY CAMERA CLUB NEWS
On the 12th April, Tenby Camera Club welcomed a club favourite, speaker, Gareth Martin. Gareth, AWPF & CPAGB, set up Port Talbot Camera Club, as well as being a founder member of Cymru Monochrome He is also a member of Bridgend Club and Afan Nedd. This talk was his 446th talk / judging to date so he has a relaxed style with all that experience!
A very talented photographer of 40 years, he filled the room with a large range of prints taken throughout his photographic life, followed by a slideshow of digital images. These images were from his club successes as well as club external competitions, Salon & International entries & acceptances.
There were all sorts of styles from portraiture to gentle landscapes. Rock bands in the early years to misty woodlands, mono and colour. He illustrated how using a filter on a photograph can change the “feel” or manner . There are many filters available for use within Photoshop but Gareth showed how to use them delicately to give a polished look. He uses a wide range of printing techniques, textured papers and unusual sizings, small square & letterbox, to get the viewers’ attention.
Gareth was warmly thanked for his interesting talk.
Next week, on the 19th April it is the judging of the final competition of the season . The best print and digital images will be announced from all the 1st, 2nd & 3rd placed photographs from this season.
Visitors welcome, & please see the beginning of our Summer School events listed on the website.
