MINI COMP TWILIGHT
TENBY CAMERA CLUB NEWS
Tenby Camera Club held a mini competition on the 25th January with the theme of Twilight. This type of competition is digital only & the images are judged by the club members. Entries were on the low side but the winning was a super shot by Gill Mackay with Pollenzo. Jan Sullivan came second & Cheryl Hewitt came third.
Following the break club member Gary Jenkins gave an overview on taking photographs of The Milky Way & of Star Trails. A very interesting talk about camera techniques , choosing locations, timings, and software to use .
In the last 2 weeks Tenby Camera Club has entered several external competitions . The first was ‘The Brian Jennings 8 way Battle.” This competition was hosted by Troestre and Velindre Camera Club and the clubs represented all came from South Wales. Tenby came a creditable 2nd to the host club who came 1st. An excellent range of topics and all of a high standard.
On Sunday 21st January Tenby Club attended the WPF Memorial Day held in Briton Ferry. The day consisted of 3 competitions judged by top class & exceptionally qualified judges. Several members attended the event to support Tenby Camera Club.
The first was the Walter Morgan Competition won by Inn Focus Camera Club.
The second was the Gwyn Morgan Trophy .With 18 Welsh clubs competing digitally, Tenby was placed in first position and was also very pleased that member Liz Wallis gained the top digital entry with her “Hunting Short eared Owl”.
The third competition was The WPF Memorial trophy. Again Tenby superbly attained the top spot and member Al Rees gained the Best print image with “Low Jumper” .
An excellent result for Tenby & Pembrokeshire!
This Thursday 1st Feb, is the judging of the Creative Competition. Always an interesting evening with unusual photography ideas. Club meets in St Florence Hall at 7.30. Come along as a guest & see what we do!
