TENBY CAMERA CLUB NEWSLETTER

On Thursday 2nd November , Tenby Camera Club welcomed Nick Jenkins, ARPS, AWPF from Tredegar to judge the 2017 Landscapes competition. He is an experienced landscape photographer so was in an excellent position to assess the images before him . He gave advice on how to capture landscapes, thoughts on composition, use of key elements to lead the eye into the image and use of colour. His critique of the work was fair and constructive, including showing how a small crop can transform an average image .

Landscapes can be of land, sea or urban scenes, in colour or black & white. There were 35 digital images and 27 prints entered . The subject matter covered places near and far , with churches, farms, castles, rock formations all featured. Nick’s knowledge of the UK’s best landscape locations was very impressive .

The winner of the print entries was Gary Mayhew with a maximum 20 points “Golden Dawn Calm Lake ‘, Paul Deverson , scored 19 with ‘Leipzig’ and joint third with 18 points , Al Rees, ‘The golden route to the Glyders, Snowdonia’ and Dave Marriott with ‘Old lifeboat station ‘

The standard of entries was very high so it was a pleasure for members to be able to see an stunning array of landscapes . Certainly worth getting out there to do the same or at least attempting too.
