HARRY GARDINER
TENBY CAMERA CLUB NEWS
The final club meeting of 2017 had to be a rescheduled talk . Unfortunately, due to a last minute cancellation, one of our most experienced members, Harry Gardiner stepped in to give a talk on Creative Panoramas and advice on using layers and blending modes in Photoshop.
Harry started the evening by outlining his reasons for choosing to live in Tenby, his decision was influenced by the picturesque harbour and the opportunities to photograph it and the surrounding landscape, we are very grateful he chose us, his alternative was Cornwall.
Harry outlined his history of producing canvas mounts and photography he is famous for and the problems he encountered over the years. He prints all his own work, the largest being 6 foot long.
Harry showed us examples of his work over the years, displaying a portfolio of stunning canvas mounted photos of the harbour and the boats, and explained how he used the reflections in the pools around the boats to enhance the images.
He gave us some valuable tips on getting the best out of a scene by using different prospectives and contrasting shapes of the boats.
He also gave us examples of stitching images together to get a panorama type photo using Photoshop and the many styles that is contained within the software, such as fine edging and layers. He is always experimenting with different styles, not forgetting Harry is a very talented artist and he often combines this with being an excellent photographer.
As always Harry is an excellent speaker & the club appreciates very much what he contributes to the club .
The next Meeting is on January 4th and is the judging of the 2nd Open Competition . Look on the Tenby Camera Club Website for details.
On behalf of Tenby Camera Club , I would like to wish all our supporters a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year . Maybe your Resolution for 2018 could be to join a Camera Club !
