Repechage

Thursday 13th April was the judging of a new competition in the programme ‘The Repechage'. Entry for this competition was for those club members who had not been placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in any competition in the current club season that have been judged by an external judge and have entered three or more of those competitions.

Those eligible to enter could submit two prints and/or two digital images. There were eleven prints and thirteen digital images submitted.

The judge for the evening was one of the clubs most highly respected and talented photographers, Royston Packer DPAGB, AWPF, LSINWP.

Royston explained his methods of judging to the members, looking at the images and being subjective, how they could be improved and how does the image stand out amongst the others submitted.Each of the images was given a critique that would be expected from Royston, with advice given to each photographer on the benefit of cropping/highlighting.

From the eleven print images 3rd place was awarded to ‘Albert’ – Dave Marriot, 2nd place ‘Bygone Times’ – Ray Hornett and 1st place ‘What is Freedom’ – Mike Rowe.

From the thirteen digital images 3rd place was awarded to ‘Are they Watching Me’ – Jo Wakeman, 2nd place ‘Tranquillity’ –Dave Marriot and 1st place ‘Elderly Lady’ – Mike Rowe.

Following the refreshment break judging took place of the audio visual competition, sadly only four entries were submitted ‘Windmills’ - Roy Peters, ‘One Day’ – Cheryl Hewitt, ‘Tulips From Amsterdam’ – Mike Rowe and ‘Tenby Walls and Bars'.

Following the viewing of all four the eventual winner was ‘One Day’ – Cheryl Hewitt, 2nd Place‘Tulips From Amsterdam’ – Mike Rowe and 3rd place ‘ Windmills’ – Roy Peters.

The Chairman Dave Lewis thanked all the photographers for their submissions in both competitions and congratulated the winners.
