From the jungles of India to the mountains of British Columbia, the cliffs of Pembrokeshire to the urban streets of Bristol - Toby Pickard is a 25-year-old wildlife photographer and filmmaker who has spent the past 13 years working on his craft. His photographs have been recognised in photography competitions both in the UK and internationally, he’s presented multiple features on national television for ITV’s Alan Titchmarsh Love Your Weekend and has spent the past three years working in the wildlife TV industry in Bristol for the likes of the BBC, National Geographic and Netflix. Join him as he presents his portfolio of photographic and filmmaking work from his journeys over the years, explaining what he’s learnt along the way through both handheld and camera trap photography, and ultimately giving advice on how you, too, can improve your own wildlife photography.

Julian Cremona.

Marine plankton in Milford Haven.
Julian needs no introduction as he is another firm favourite of ours whose enthusiasm for his studies is quite infectious.
The water that laps our seashores contains life that is surprisingly biodiverse and yet invisible to most people. An enclosed waterway like Milford Haven is especially rich and I have been studying and photographing the tiny organisms that live there for many years. I display much of this in my website planktonmilfordhaven.org. The talk will explore this largely microscopic world both in its breadth and variety as well as the ecology. Photographing the constantly changing life is a particular challenge and so a third part will be methods of collection and attaining the images with an emphasis on focus stacking.

Paul and Lizzie

Winter adventure in Scandinavia.

Once again renowned wildlife photographers Paul Richards and Lizzy Wallis will be giving the membership an exclusive insight of life as a dedicated wildlife photographer as they brave the hardships of Northern Norway in sub zero conditions as they wild camp along the way, I cant express how gratefull I am to both for continuingly coming up with something new just for us here at Tenby camera club. we really are in for another special evening.
The talk will document four winter trips to Northern Norway where we have experienced the harshest winter conditions (down to -30C) in our efforts to capture the beautiful landscape and the hardy winter wildlife high above the Arctic Circle. Camping in a tent in -25C, cranes in the snow, snowshoes, northern lights, huskies, musk ox, moose, Hurtigruten, purple sandpipers, king eider, snow ploughs, ice roads, Sami reindeer, arctic hares, and the controversy where Lizzie made newspaper headlines across the region. Wrap up warm, this is guaranteed to make you shiver!
