PANELS COMP & ROY PETERS

TENBY CAMERA CLUB NEWSLETTER

It has been an eventful couple of weeks .

On the 15th November Tenby welcomed Roy Thomas to judge the panels competition. Roy from Neath & District Camera Club, is one of the top and longest serving judges in Wales, a past President of both the WYou PF and the PAGB.

Critiquing the print images first, he gave advice on construction of a successful panel which has to consist of 5 images. The images should be of a similar tone, colour and appearance. They should balance visually, each image should be positioned in such a way that they lead the viewer into the panel from either end. It should tell a story or be based on a common theme.

The final choice was Neil Thomas and his Osprey panel “Osprey fishing for prey”. In second place was Roy Peters with “Abandoned” and in third “On the Rocks” by new member John Whitehurst.
The winner of the digital panel was Dave Marriott with “Castlemartin Range” , runner up was Neil Thomas with “Red Kites in flight” and in joint third “Sparrow Hawks by Charlie Kidd and “Children of Cambodia” by Roy Peters.

On the 22nd November, member Roy Peters showed his slideshow of his 17 day, 3,000 mile trip from San Francisco through the North West of the USA , visiting Yosemite, Sequoia National Park and Lake Tahoe. Stunning views of Yellowstone National Park with geysers , mud pots, waterfalls and rivers. Unusual animals and birds were photographed too. A tour not to be missed …..

There was good news received this week of member Gary Jenkins attaining his DPAGB award . Congratulations on reaching this high standard of photography.

Next week it is the judging of the wildlife competition . Visitors welcome.
