MINI COMP
TENBY CAMERA CLUB NEWS
There was a full house on Thursday 12th October when camera club members took part in an in-house mini competition. Members could enter up to 4 digital images to be judged by the members & guests. The topic was ‘open” so of course the variety of images was interesting. This type of competition is good because new or inexperienced members can ‘have a go’ anonymously….unless they get placed ! There were over 80 images to look at , with people marking their 1st, 2nd & 3rd places and also scoring each image between 1-5. There was a high standard of images, so not an easy task.
The final results were 1st place ‘Hoverfly’ by Cheryl Hewitt, 2nd ‘ Catching Flies’ by Liz Wallis and 3rd ‘Lost Love’ by Donna McKay.
This exciting competition was followed by a Video presentation by club member Dave Bolton . One of the club’s experienced and innovative photographers , Dave had the idea to use the atmospheric areas of Tenby after dark for a photoshoot. teaming up with Llanelli based actor John Price . The result was a storyline based on ‘ Jack the Ripper’ , using the spooky alleyways of Tenby. Not one for the local Tourist Board !
Inspired by the result of Jack the Ripper, Dave & John approached John Loring , owner of St. Catherine’s Island , who gave exclusive use of the island for a photoshoot. The theme this time was ‘ Dracula’s Island” . Directed by both Dave & John Price, the video told a grisly and gory story of love , hate and death. A wonderful back drop for a gruesome tale.
Many thanks to Dave Bolton for allowing members to view these two productions of stunning photography .
If this has got your attention why not come along to our club. We meet on Thursday evening at 7.30 in St. Florence Village Hall. We have a website & Facebook page too.
