HEIDI STEWART

TENBY CAMERA CLUB NEWS

On Thursday 18th October, Chairman Dave Lewis welcomed back Heidi Stewart to enthral us again with her stunning landscape work. Heidi has been a member of Gwynfa Camera Club since 2010, but has had a love of photography all her life.

Members were treated to an amazing tour around Britain and Iceland, with Heidi capturing special moments in time of diverse landscapes.

Starting with Anglesey, there were images of bridges, beaches, piers and squirrels (red of course) all taken with care to capture the colours.

And then it was Iceland ….with geysers, waterfalls, black sand beaches, glaciers , ice and colourful buildings. The photographs really captured this special place making us feel we were really there.

Helpful advice on taking landscape pictures was given throughout the talk, from trying a new angle (even if it meant getting your feet wet & cold) to watching the light & the clouds to set the scene.

After a break Heidi moved onto Northumberland with it’s moody character. All the popular spots were covered from Dunstanburgh Castle to Holy Island, using sometimes black & white, and watching for reflections of clouds and trees. A dramatic set of images.

Then onto Wales from the Brecon Beacons to Nash Point , giving an all embracing tour of the Welsh homeland. Mountains and rivers, beaches and ruins were all there to tell a story.

West Cornwall was next with St. Michael’s Mount, Porthleven and mines featuring strongly, capturing the Cornish heritage.

To close the evening we were transported to The Scottish Highlands for sunrises & sunsets, rain and rainbows, lakes and mountains, highland cattle and islands. We didn’t want to leave!

Heidi was enthusiastically applauded for her talk, which was illustrated with a very high standard of photography and delivered with a cheerful manner. I am sure members left for home thinking I would love to visit some of those places and capture that landscape moment in time (maybe not as good as Heidi though). She gave inspiration to get out and visit!

Next week on the 25th October we have Roy Carr who will be talking “Outdoor Life” . Another interesting photographer so don’t miss it. Guests welcome .
