TENBY CAMERA CLUB NEWS
Tenby Camera Club has had two interesting weeks recently.
On the 7th March a large contingent of members travelled to Carmarthen to support Tenby Camera Club. The event was a 4 way photographic battle organised by the Carmarthen Photographic Society . The four clubs were Tenby, New Quay, Cardigan and the hosts, Carmarthen . Each club provided ten digital images for appraisal . Tenby’s images were from 10 different photographers so the members were well represented. The judge with the difficult task of critiquing and scoring forty images was Gary Shinner. A well qualified and experienced circuit judge , Gary gave each image a fair and considerate assessment . It was a close contest at half time, but after a tempting buffet kindly provided by Carmarthen, things got interesting.
Tenby’s final images scored well , earning three out of the five 20’s given on the night. These top scoring images were provided by Paul Richards, Dave Lewis and Charlie Kidd. This was enough to tip the balance and for Tenby to capture first place. There were some excellent and interesting photographs from all the clubs. Final places were Tenby in first, New Quay in second, Cardigan in third and Carmarthen fourth. A very enjoyable evening sharing a mutual love of photography. Many thanks from Tenby members to Carmarthen for being friendly and generous hosts.
The 14th March Club meeting was a 3 table workshop where three experienced members shared their broad knowledge of Photoshop and Lightroom photographic techniques. They were Dave Marriott ,Gill Mackay and Dave Bolton. Members were asked to bring in digital images, so they could be shown how it is possible to vastly improve them from the RAW image. Lots of hints and tips for everyone, always room to learn something new. Many warm thanks to Dave, Gill & Dave for their mettle and patience. It boosts the morale of the less experienced members to have the resolve to improve and “have a go”.
