6 March 2025: Gill Mackay: What is Street Photography?
Tenby had the pleasure of one its own members presenting a talk on Street Photography. Gill Mackay is an expert in this genre, documenting life in many towns and cities for over 20 years. She has gained many distinctions during her journey including AWPF, EFIAP, DPAGB and BPE3.
Advice was freely given on techniques, from planning the locations, wearing inconspicuous clothing, camera gear and settings. Gill illustrated her talk not only with her own stunning images but work by her favourite street
photographers, including Rui Palha (https://www.ruipalha.com) Mark Fearnley (https://www.markfearnley.com/). Gill is self taught but continually develops her style with enthusiasm and practice . This genre is not easy to achieve a high standard but Gill’s advice will certainly set a photographer on the right path.
The talk was very well assembled, full of information and inspiration to develop a wide genre of photography.
